Viagra has long been touted for its ability to treat erectile dysfunction and improve sexual performance, yet researchers have now found evidence linking its daily use with reduced cardiovascular events and overall mortality rates compared with not taking it.
Sildenafil citrate was subjected to multiple randomized trials comparing it with placebo for men suffering cardiovascular disorders and having erectile dysfunction. It works by blocking an enzyme known as phosphodiesterase type 5 that prevents smooth muscle cells from relaxing, as reported by researchers. When taken daily by this group of men they experienced 25% lower rates of cardiac events and death compared with those not taking the pill, as well as reduced risks of heart-related deaths, strokes, blood pressure levels, cholesterol and triglyceride levels as improvements seen throughout these trials compared with placebo controls.
Viagra has been proven to increase blood flow in males and help them achieve and sustain an erection for approximately an hour after taking. Unfortunately, its effects in females remain unclear or how long their effects might last.
Before beginning daily dosage of Viagra, consult with your physician first. They can evaluate your overall health status to assess if this drug is appropriate for you and may provide you with a valid prescription if necessary.
